I admit it. I am a party girl. I like to go out have beers and shots, sometimes I like to dance, play pool, and even karoake. In my younger days I was the queen of moving and grooving until all hours of the dawn and still would be at work bright eyed and bushy tailed at 6:00 a.m. in the morning.

Of course those days have changed. It seemed like after I turned 30, those night of being a real mover and shaker started catching up to me and I couldnt go out the 4 or 5 nights a week like I used to. So then I became what I called a "Weekend Warrior." I love Fridays and Saturdays. Depending on my mood in any given week depends on where I end up, also what I end up drinking.

Most of the time I am a beer and Jaegermeister type of girl. Every now and then I get on a wine cooler kick. And of course I go through phases where its got be a Tequila Sunrise, or Vodka Martini, or Crown Royal and diet Coke.
Even though I am older, I am still one of those rare breeds that can mix liquor without getting sick. I always chalk that up to my heritage, you know being German and Irish and all. Both know how to drink and both know how to fight, since fighting hurts I prefer drinking, which can hurt but not as bad.

So what is your favorite drink? Do you switch up? How many nights do you like to drink?

Freedom - I'm a Bourbon gal as well. I love a nice cold beer, but I rarely drink any liquer ever nowadays. I use to be just like you Freedom, 4 nights a week, love jaguermeister, but it doesn't like me back anymoer. Now it's maybe once a month or sometimes 1 ever couple of months...if I go out. Lol, prioties change and I'd rather stay home these days, I look forward to that so much more then I use to. I remember a time when getting out was more important then sleep, now sleep and home are the hardest things to get.....funny how that goes, every thing gets all ass backwards (hey, maybe I had one to many a bourbon in my day)lol Hek

Jaeger? Are you still in your teens? (Joking...)

I ordered some the other night and I remembered why I hate that candy imitating drink.

I think I just wanted the can of red bull...so I said give me a Jaeger Bomb. Tasted like old liquorish. Bleh.

_____________

I drink Patron. Lots of it. My favorite shot.

Other than that, I drink Miller Light, Corona, Blue Moon when I go out. Guilty pleasures are "lemonade" or "sugar" drinks...but I never drink those when I'm out...

Comeon. Are you honestly going to talk to a guy drinking a Smirnoff at the Bar?

If you are going to drink Jaeger try a 'bee'. It is a form of black and tan only made with Jaeger and Baron jaeger. Use a tall thin shot glass - poor in the Jaegermeister until the glass is about half full then poor the Baron Jaeger in. The Baron Jaeger will sink to the bottom and is honey flavored - so when you do the shot you get the honey flavor and not the stale liquorish after taste.

There's no need to apologize to those foo-foo, brandy and wine drinkers. What are they gonna do, poo-poo at your gaffe? "Oh look, my booze is made of fruit." Wimps.

Scotch, technically, is whiskey. It's just really good whiskey, and is also my best friend.

True. There are a few, good, Irish whiskeys, though. Just none of that Canadian and American crap. All garbage--all. Ick horf horf spit puke gag. It's like... why not just pour a bottle of rubbing alcohol over a bowl of sugar cubes and serve it up as "USA's own Whiskey, made in the center aisle of Walmart!"

I mean, we are a nation of people that put human beings on the friggin' moon. Is it so much to ask that we develop a halfway decent whiskey?

Whiskey (or whisky) is any any spirit distilled from cereal grains and aged in oak casks. For Scotch and Irish whiskies, the prevalent grain is barley. For Bourbon, it is rye. For any other whiskey, it's corn. I've yet to hear of any whisky made from a predominantly wheat mash, though.

While I like a cold beer or a gin and tonic on a hot summer day, I am primarily a whisky drinker. Scotch and Bourbon being my choices. Johnny Walker Gold or Blue for blended Scotch, Laphroaig or Glenmorangie for single malts, and Old Grand Dad or Knob Creek for Bourbon. Neat, of course.

I've never really liked the Glenmorangie. It has a bite that bugs me. I prefer Glenlivet or McClelland. Much smoother. McClelland has zest, but not that ick part in Glenmorangie that I've never figured out what it is.

Whichever floats yer boat, Zom. I like the "smoky" flavor of Glenmorangie. The Laphroig is almost salty, as it is made on the Isle of Skye, rather than the mainland. Its said that the peat on Skye has a lot of kelp in it, which may account for the unique flavor.

Confused, I learned moonshinin' from my great-uncle in Tennessee. He cooked corn likker (the "bread and butter") and rye whisky (the "private stock") in the woods back of his farm. Unlike many moonshiners, he used natural or LP gas as his heatsource. He said that cooking 'shine or any other such was a matter of perfect temperature control. I learned the how and why of this in high school: Too low, you get aldehydes among the alcohol. Too high, you get acetyl radicals. These toxins are guaranteed to pop your skull most painfully later on, maybe even before the night is over.

Uncle proofed his product at about 60% alcohol by volume, 120 proof, using water from an artesian spring filtered thru white mason's sand. The corn was jugged upon proofing, but the rye was laid up in a couple of small casks made of white oak for no less than three years. MMMmm, good! There's a fella here along the SC tidewater cooks some good corn. His runs about 150 proof or so, but it's made proper. None o' that nasty bite or oiliness to it. I get a quart (mason jar) from him every couple of months. He also, for the holidays, jars some of his recipe with quartered apples or pears. Oh my, when the whiskey gets low, just fork out a chunk ot that fruit and let it melt in your mouth, Oh Yeah!

Hek sweetie, If blended Scotch is your thing (especially on rare occasions), let me recommend the Johnny Walker Gold Label. It's an all-malt blend aged 18 years. Most blends use other grain whiskies along with the barley-malt, supposedly for smoothness but really just to make the malt go farther. An all-malt blend such as the JW Gold is incredibly smooth and tasty. Not too costly, either. So make the most of the "rare occasions". Cheers!

Dewer is just not as hard to get past the first sip....then I'm okay....however, if I wanna be a big girl, I can turn around, hold my nose, go for the fist sip, turn back around and seem perfectly okay (cept everyone else in the room is snickering at me) lol - it is fun though. Confused??? I know. LOL I learned a lot, but I took a lot of AP courses. I had a lot of fun in that class though. It was our teacher's last year, so he kind of had the attitude "What are they gonna do, fire me?" about a lot of his lessons. We did do some experiments that were way off topic, but almost all of them made sense in the class. He was also able to select his students and slot them into each class well because his wife taught at the junior high and knew all the students coming up.

So... when's his next business trip? I'll bring the bottle... you provide the glass.

No... none for me, thanks. I'm driving.

I drink the following depending on my mood--

    Russian Standard Vodka

    Makers Mark

    Don Julio Platinum Tequila

    Courvoisier

    Jameson
    *************

and in Beer-I prefer Landshark or Dos XX in the summer,

In the Fall, I drink Blue Moon or Spaten Optimater

My tastes are little expensive, but I believe that there should be no reason to drink cheap alcohol.

Leticia if you like Jameson, you should try Glen Livet 12, a friend of mine had me try that once and now if I am in an Irish Whiskey mood then I will settle for Jameson, but I prefer the Glen Livet.

Freedom Glen Livet 12 will get you in trouble it is so good. That used to be my drink of choice when I lived in Wyoming, but moving back to Arkansas it is hard to get and very costly I paid 59.95 for a bottle in Arkansas. I went back to what most of my other friends drink down here, Jim B, Jack D and Old Grandad. I sneak a bottle of GL 12 once a year just to remember the good ole days. LoL

Yea i know first hand the effects of Glen Livet. I was at a hole in the wall bar and was suprised that they even had it in the first place, but was even more surprised when they were selling it for 4 bucks a shot. I was buying double shots at a time trying to sip it, but it was so much of a bargain I kept wanting to shoot it. Glen livet is not a shooting alcohol because it does taste so good. But as with any alcohol I drink too much of i get frisky.

Lol......When I lived in Wyoming my bands name was Cherokee Rose, we played a lot of clubs and bars. We came up with a gimmick where we would hold a dance contest and have the owners pick the winning couple. The winning couple recieved a 16 oz mixed drink that we called the Cherokee Rose. Want to talk about something that would get you Friskey.....OMG. Had one young cowboy come back to listen to us the next night after he and his gal had won a Cherokee Rose and he said "Hell boys I been ropin, riden, and brandin all my life. Once me and the little woman got home last night, I was on the receiving end. God that woman can whip and spur with the best of them."

I laughed my A$$ off. If I can remember the recipe It's been almost 6 years since I made one.

    Cherokee Rose

1 shot each of vodka, gin, rum, triple sect, (I think there is another clear liquor not sure. oh yeah.....1 shot of ever clear)

1 shot of raspberry Liqour (monea?)

    cranberry juice

splash of 7up and a twist of lemon.

Mix in tumbler and pour into 16 oz glass with two straws....

    Someones getting lucky tonight.

    Freedom Writer,

You just described me in a nutshell. Although my background is not German and Irish, lol.

I too used to spend my 20's being a party girl---so much so that I can't remember the better part of my early 20's, lol. Out the door at 6 PM and home at 6 am, six days a week. What was really surprising for my friends and family is that I did that at all--up until age 22 or 23, I never touched alcohol. Then I graduated from college and made up for lost time. HA!

Anywhos, I still like my once-a-week karaoke nights, and although i don't drink nearly as much as I used to, I still like to mix it up--vodka, tequila, beer, jack, you name it. (not all at once, of course). My current favorite mixer is cherry vodka and diet coke--it tastes EXACTLY like Cherry Coke, and can be a very dangerous thing--you can't taste the alcohol so you keep going until suddenly, it catches up to you.

    :-)

When it comes to beer, I admit I'm a bit of a beer snob. I can't stand any watered down s**t like Coors, Bud, Miller, etc. I like dark beers, stouts and/or imports--Bass Ale is a favorite. There's a couple of local microbreweries around my neighborhood and they churn out some pretty good stuff as well.

Shot-wise, I like Black Haus, or a good tequila like Patron or Cabo. I can do Cuervo but it's like swallowing paint thinner.

    Cheers!

You know what mizeimel I didnt start drinking until i was 21. but I really didnt start being the "party girl" until like you around 23 or 24. I do like Cherry Vodka a friend of mine got me started on those with the "Cherry Bomb" just for the record though mixing any alcohol with red bull is extremely bad. it makes you even more drunk even though you dont think you are.

I too like the darker beers, but most of my locals only carry the watered down stuff so I usually go with Bud lite or miller lite.

As far as patron goes, lets just leave it at the song that says "Tequila makes her clothes come off" could have been written about me.

I know. It is one reason I prefer to drink around my house. I don't find anything offensive in that. I do know some teachers that were real party animals when they were college, and I know some teachers that drink on a daily basis and even more that do still party. Those seem to be more popular now than a few years ago.

I do enjoy drinking every once in a while. My limit is usually two. I have managed to never really get drunk. I have been buzzed really good a few times. (That is when I have had my limit. LOL)

I vastly prefer cocktails though. I do enjoy a really good wine. The only beers I like come from Germany (that I know of), and I am ok with most liquors as long as they have been cut with something.

if you ever get a chance to travel to Boston, I'd highly recommend the Sam Adams Brewery tour. It's about 30 minutes long and at the end of it you get free beer samples. although I'd recommend you eat first, lol.

Also good is the Harpoon Brewery tour. You get more beer than Sam Adams. Good stuff.

Probably the best IPA in the world.

Homebrew first and foremost - make my own craft beers. Then I go for high end brews - duvel, kasteel, piratt, corsendonk, chimay - when drinking american will go for microbrews. then you have the whiskeys - prefer crown royal, will drink jack daniels if the bottle is fresh opened. Liquors - chambord and champagne with breakfast on the weekends is a great way to start the day!

What kind of honey did you use? We like to make mead using orange blossom honey for a sparkling mead and use wild flower honey for a flat mead. We have also made some malamels(? spelling) using strawberries and rhubarb, mint, lemon, pears, and wild berries. I have never used sugar in a mead but we do use about 5 # of honey per 5 gallon batch. We also double ferment - first fermentation with a high gravity mead yeast then finish it off in a secondary fermentation with a dry champagne yeast.

I also drink plenty of green and black tea.

I have been known to have a glass or two of wine.

            Mostly stick with water though.

I like flavored vodkas, especially raspberry or strawberry in Crystal Light lemonade, Cosmopolitans and margaritas. For beer I love Sam Adams and Blue Moon, but I occasionally will have a Corona w/lime. For wines I like merlot, white zin, chardonnay and moscato.

Actually blueberry vodka and lemonade is favorite. I can't believe I forgot about blueberry vodka. I must have been drunk. LOL! Anyway, definitely try it! It was my drink of choice this past summer.

I'm on a mojito kick right now, but, my absolute favorite is a Beefeaters martini, up, shaken and dirty. But, I can't deal with the martini hangovers anymore!

I use to be Vodka and Jack Daniels. Stopped Vodka because the night I graduated High School, I had a quart of Orange Juice and a Quart of Vodka and no glass. Drank Half quart of OJ filled bottle with Vodka, Finished half of that and filled OJ bottle again with rest of Vodka. Needless to say, the end of the night was somewhat of a blur. Won't touch Vodka now. Quit JD for the most part because in SR. high school I was drinking a Quart per night. I liked it to much. Now I will have maybe 1 or 2 Jacks a Coke a year. So now I am primarily a beer guy.

I don't drink much and I seem to go through phases of liking particular drinks.

The only long term drink I like is Shiner Bock beer. And I drink some of those every few months. Also various Texas produced wines like Dry Comal Creek's Black Spanish.

At the moment I'm exploring various portos after having tried a port flight by Taylor Fladgate last year. It makes for a good dessert with very dark chocolate. 20-30yr is the best, 40 too little flavor and 10 too much.

Before port I was drinking a triple distilled tequilia I picked up at a farm outside Puerto Vallarta neat. Unfortunately they don't ship only direct sales and I ran out some time ago.

I can't remember what was before that was too many years ago, I don't drink often. Probably Baileys in coffee. I never go out drinking, sometimes I drink with or after a dinner party or some other event like a private halloween party but not just to a bar or club.

I feel like I'm old for my chronological age (32), and don't go out nearly as often as I did a few years ago. I used to be an every weekend, pounding beers and tequila shots all night, out until 3 AM kind of guy. Now, I'll meet friends for a late dinner, have a couple of glasses of wine (the drier and redder, the better) and home by 11. Or, we'll get together at someone's house and sit around playing cards while sipping on some beer (big Fat Tire fan). As for liquor, I've come to appreciate gin recently, and can always go for a nice glass of scotch (neat, please). But no bourbon - it's too sweet and gives me a stomach ache. Same with rum and anything "fruity" or "girly". Alcohol and sweet do not go together.

Yea as we age our priorities change. But it is still fun to remember the days. And I agree mixing alcohol with fruity juice does nothing but make you get the runs.
