As the year goes by, certain holidays bring certain genres of film back to life. Obviously Halloween brings out the horror filmmakers.
Certain movies I have always associated with specific holidays. For example, "Miracle on 34th St".... an obvious Christmas movie.
As I have progress from child to adult, the holiday movies have changed. As a child, every year our Halloween movie of choice was "Beetlejuice". Now that I have branched out on my own and added children of my own, the Halloween movie is "Hocus Pocus". We are not avid horror flick followers.
At Christmas with my first born, it was "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". All two agonizing hours of green Jim Carey.
With the addition of a boy to our family, the movie has since switched to "Gremlins".
Every Easter "Steel Magnolias" is on the roster at some point.
Every July I kick my children out and I watch the movie I most loved from my adolescence,
"The Color Purple".
Holiday movies are a tradition in my family. The titles may change but the setting is always the same. Please share some of your most favorite holidays and titles. Maybe we can get some new ideas.
